In September, the editorial staff of st-computer should receive a first preview version. The developers are making an effort to display PDF files directly so that the time-consuming process of converting them into PS format does not have to be taken, as is the case with Ghostscript. However, it has been announced that neither ASH nor invers Software will distribute the software. What form of distribution will be chosen instead is still open. (tr) VCS on the Dreamcast (23.08.2001 - 07:10 Uhr)![]() For the 128 bit game console Sega Dreamcast, a few emulators of the VCS 2600 are in the works. Gonzo 2600 is one of the projects, a screenshot is already available online. SMEG, on the other hand, is a general emulator that should also support the VCS. The Dreamcast has been discontinued by Sega and is therefore available nationwide at very reasonable prices. (tr) (tr) New design for Pink Panther Productions (23.08.2001 - 07:10 Uhr)The homepage of Pink Panther Productions has been completely redesigned and has been given a fresh new look. Winframes and icons have been given their own section, which will be constantly expanded. Also announced was the database Chrysalis, which can create a certificate of many historical events for one's own birthday based on personal data. Chrysalis also shows whether well-known personalities also celebrate the same birthday. Holidays from all over the world, as well as death anniversaries and patron saints are not missing, nor is the direct printout via GDOS (NVDI) or the export as RTF file for individual processing, e.g. with Papyrus. More than 3000 sayings are already included. On multitasking systems, Chrysalis can also work together with the first name database Vorlex, so that everything about the person's first name is also retrieved automatically. A first screenshot of the attractive interface can already be admired, the program is expected to be released on 01 September. (tr) (tr) M.E.S.S. 0.37b15 (23.08.2001 - 07:10 Uhr)A new version of the Multi-Emulator Super System (M.E.S.S.) is available for the Windows operating system. Older versions for the operating systems Mac OS, Amiga OS with WarpUP, Digita, Solaris and Risc OS are also available. (tr) (tr) Animator 0.20.3 (23.08.2001 - 05:10 Uhr)

(tr) (tr) Mac OS 9.2 (22.08.2001 - 09:10 Uhr)The long-awaited Mac OS 9.2.1 is now available for download from Apple's servers. The update for the classic Mac OS does not contain any new features, but fixes bugs of version 9.1. It can also be used with the Classic environment of Mac OS X. The updater is also available in German. First tests showed that the current version 6.1.5 of the Atari operating environment MagiC Mac works without problems on G3 or G4 computers. Atari users can therefore update with a clear conscience. But take your time for the download: the update is about 84 MBytes. (mj) Mia Jaap - JaapanTOS on the Sinclair QL (20.08.2001 - 09:10 Uhr)The Sinclair QL was the last product of Sir Clive Sinclair's British computer company. It came onto the market at the same time as the Atari ST and the Commodore Amiga, but was unable to establish itself due to its weaker processor and the peculiar storage media concept. Those who still have a QL in the corner can now install the original Atari TOS on it, because a corresponding emulator is available. QL + TOS - if that is not an unusual combination! (tr) (tr) Interview with Merlancia (20.08.2001 - 09:10 Uhr)The French online magazine c-FMA covers the operating system BeOS. The magazine now published an interview with the American Amiga legend Dave Haynie, who now works at Merlancia Industries. Dave also answers questions about the planned Tsunami computer, to which the Atari TOS will possibly be adapted. Since it is not an Atari website, the TOS port is not mentioned, however. The interview is in English. (tr) (tr) VCS news (20.08.2001 - 09:10 Uhr)![]() Around the classic game console Atari VCS 2600 there are again some news:
