Total Eclipse was an early first-person adventure game from Incentive Software in 1988. Set in Egypt, the player must explore a pyramid, overcome traps and solve puzzles. As with the other Incentive titles (Driller, Dark Side), the action was presented in filled-in 3D graphics - even on the 8-bit versions of the game. Total Eclipse was released for the ST, Amiga and PC, as well as the 8-bit systems Spectrum, C64 and CPC.
Marius is now working on a port of the game to the Atari XL. 64 KB RAM are required, a test version is available as a download in the AtariAge forum. The 3D routines have been optimised and therefore work faster than on the C64, not only because of the higher clocked CPU of the Atari. However, the C64 version is only really playable with an accelerator card, on a standard C64 the frame rate is too low.
