The time has come: After successfully recovering the source code, programmer Dan Wilga has released his alternative desktop NeoDesk and the multitasking operating system Geneva as freeware. The source code is to be released in the coming months.
Both applications are among the best that the Atari software market had to offer. NeoDesk, like Gemini, was one of the first desktop alternatives and offers a similar range of functions as Jinnee. The multitasking operating system Geneva, which was hardly used in Germany, offered multitasking on the Atari even before MultiTOS and with tear-off menus a function that no other program offered.
Both programs suffered in Germany from changing distributors, especially Geneva (review in ST-Computer 11/98) appeared only rarely in the press. Like MagiC, Geneva is also suitable for 68000 STs. (via tuxie/atari-home.de)
